About Run the Open Home
Following the incredible success of our inaugural event, the second annual Run the Open returns even bigger in 2026. Last year’s community effort saw runners cover an extraordinary 82km from Katoomba to Springwood, raising more than $14,000 for Cancer Wellness Support and helping provide vital subsidised therapies for people living with cancer, along with their carers and families. What began as a simple challenge quickly became a powerful show of endurance, generosity, and community spirit across the Blue Mountains.
This year, we invite our supporters, sponsors, runners, and local businesses to come together once again to make an even greater impact. Run the Open is more than a fundraising event — it’s a celebration of resilience, connection, and community, with every kilometre helping ensure local people affected by cancer continue to have access to affordable, person-centred care and support when they need it most.
