Terms & Conditions
Fundraising Terms and Conditions
These terms relate to the coordination of an event or activity aimed at raising funds for the benefit of Cancer Wellness Support.
- Definition of a Fundraiser
"Fundraiser" refers to the individual, group, or organisation holding the activity or event in conjunction with or for the benefit of Cancer Wellness Support.
- Authority to Fundraise
Once the Fundraiser agrees to these terms through the online form, Cancer Wellness Support will issue an Authority to Fundraise, which confirms and authorises the event or activity. Fundraisers may only promote Cancer Wellness Support as their beneficiary charity once this approval has been granted.
- Fundraising Conditions
- Fundraising is permitted only during the approved dates and for the approved activity outlined in the Letter of Authority. Any changes require additional approval from Cancer Wellness Support.
- The Fundraiser is responsible for organising and managing the event. Due to limited resources, Cancer Wellness Support cannot assist with securing prizes, publicity, or goods/services unless agreed to in writing.
- If soliciting in-kind goods (such as free or discounted products/services), they must be used for the approved event. Any unused items should be donated to Cancer Wellness Support.
- Fundraisers are not permitted to conduct telemarketing or door-to-door fundraising, as these activities are regulated by law and managed centrally by Cancer Wellness Support.
- Use of Cancer Wellness Support’s Name and Logo
- If the Fundraiser wishes to use the Cancer Wellness Support name or logo on printed or digital materials (e.g., flyers, posters, invitations), approval must be obtained before use.
- Fundraisers must conduct themselves in a way that upholds the reputation of Cancer Wellness Support. Behaviour that is inappropriate, endangers others, or diminishes the organisation’s name will not be tolerated.
- Engaging Public Figures and Media
- Fundraisers must obtain approval before approaching public figures, celebrities, or media representatives to support their fundraising efforts. This ensures alignment with Cancer Wellness Support’s outreach strategy.
- Attendance by Cancer Wellness Support Representatives
- If the Fundraiser would like a representative from Cancer Wellness Support to attend the event, they must submit a request as early as possible. Attendance will depend on staff availability.
- Compliance with Fundraising Laws
- Cancer Wellness Support is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC) and operates under state-specific fundraising laws. Fundraisers must comply with all applicable regulations.
- All funds raised must be accurately recorded, counted/verified by at least two people, and submitted to Cancer Wellness Support within four weeks of the event.
- A receipt will be issued in the name of the activity/event once funds have been received.
- Fundraisers should ensure that event expenses do not exceed 40% of gross proceeds (or a lower percentage as required by law) and must keep records of all income and expenses.
- Insurance and Liability
- Cancer Wellness Support’s public liability insurance does not cover community-run events. Fundraisers must ensure they have appropriate insurance in place to cover any risks associated with their event or activity.
- Safeguarding Children and Young People
- Cancer Wellness Support is committed to child safety. If children are present at a fundraising event, they must be adequately supervised by at least two adults at all times (unless a parent/guardian is present).
- If a Fundraiser has concerns about a child’s safety, they should report it immediately.
- Tax-Deductible Receipts
- Individual tax-deductible receipts can only be issued for donations of $2 or more where no goods or services were received in return.
- Purchases such as event tickets, raffle entries, and auction items are not tax-deductible.
- Cancer Wellness Support’s Right to Withdraw Approval
- Cancer Wellness Support reserves the right to withdraw approval for a fundraising event if the Fundraiser fails to comply with these terms or if the event is deemed inappropriate.
